Sonal & Tim’s South Farm Wedding – May 2025

Hi everyone,

I’m really pleased to share the story behind a recent wedding film I created for the lovely Sonal and Tim – and this one was special for so many reasons.

Their wedding at South Farm in Royston wasn’t just about two people getting married – it was about family, resilience, and finding joy even when the day felt a little more emotional than expected.

A Day Full of Feeling

Weddings aren’t always sunshine and ease, and this one had its fair share of stress and nerves. It was a high-pressure day for Sonal and Tim – there were a few unexpected hiccups, and at times, emotions ran high. But here’s the thing: those are often the moments when real love and connection shine through.

We all pulled together to make it work. I spent a good part of the day not just filming but offering reassurance, keeping things calm, and gently helping the couple stay grounded. That’s something I really care about – being a quiet support in the background, making sure you feel safe and seen, especially when things get a bit overwhelming.

Family at the Heart of It

One of the most important parts of the day was making sure Tim’s mum could be there, despite her health. It meant the world to both of them, and her presence gave the day a layer of meaning that you could feel in every shared glance and embrace.

A Fusion of Cultures and Traditions

This wedding was also a celebration of two cultures coming together in the most thoughtful way. Sonal arrived in a classic blue London taxi, which was a brilliant nod to her roots, and the energy of the traditional Dhal drummers gave the day this vibrant rhythm that stayed with us all the way through. This was part one of a two-part celebration, with their traditional Vedic ceremony coming up later this month – and I’m already buzzing to film that one.

The Pigs (Yes, Really) and the Perfect Sunset

I have to mention one of my personal highlights – the pigs at South Farm. I absolutely love seeing them every time I’m there. They’re cheeky, charming, and add a bit of rustic magic to the place. And honestly, South Farm itself continues to be one of the best venues around. The staff there are absolute heroes – always kind, thoughtful, and effortlessly on top of everything. Whether you’re a guest or a supplier, they treat everyone with such care. Huge shoutout to them for everything they do.

We were also blessed with the most gorgeous golden-hour sunset – soft, warm light falling across the fields and buildings. After a day of intense emotion, it was a peaceful, grounding moment, and made for some truly beautiful shots.

The Next-Day Trailer – A Sound-Led Story

To help Sonal and Tim relive the day while the full film is in the works, I created a next-day trailer – but with a little extra love and care on the sound front.

I really focused on weaving together the emotional threads using sound from the day itself. I layered in clips from the readings, speeches, and even personal letters Sonal and Tim wrote to each other. Sound is such a powerful storytelling tool, and in this case, it really helped bring everything together – allowing the emotion to breathe through the music and words, not just the visuals. You can watch the trailer of their south farm wedding for yourself here.

Real Weddings, Real Stories

This wasn’t a glossy, flawless day – it was better than that. It was real, emotional, and full of genuine connection. I always aim to tell stories just like that – naturally, quietly, and honestly. No staged moments or forced poses – just real people and real emotion.

Looking Ahead

I’m already excited for part two of Sonal and Tim’s wedding story – their Vedic ceremony, which promises to be vibrant, soulful, and every bit as meaningful. I’ll be sharing that on the blog once it’s ready, so keep an eye out.

If you’re planning your own wedding and looking for someone who’ll tell your story with care, calm, and creativity, I’d love to chat. Whether your day is high-energy, intimate, or anything in between, I’m here for it.

Until next time,
Jack
